As is standard in the illustration industry, copyright for artwork is retained by the creator and licensed to you for a specified use. This use is outlined in the contract. If you want copyright ownership transferred to you, in order to have free and unlimited use of your visuals, we would negotiate that, and it would be set out in the contract.
Pricing is not fixed but is dependant on several variables. This includes potential reach and intended use. For example, if you want to use an illustration in webinar slides and in your social media posts, the price will be lower than if you want to use the same illustration with an article in an industry magazine with a large circulation.
Again, if you are an established published author, the price for illustrations will be higher than if this is your first book, reflecting your status and anticipated reach. We may also negotiate a percentage of royalties on book sales, though this is not always the case.
Whatever price we agree on, and what it covers, will be clearly set out in the contract and licensing agreement.
I'm flexible about revisions. If I've listened to you properly, the first draft should be close to what you want. I'm happy to tweak an image or video until you're happy with it. If after agreeing to a draft, you then want to make new and significant changes, I would suggest an additional cost that we would agree before I proceed.
Our contract will make allowances for this possibility.
